We only collect what we need, we don't share it with anyone who doesn't need it, and we won't use it to bother you. This page explains exactly what that means in practice.
We collect only what's needed
Name, contact details, and the information relevant to your puppy enquiry. Nothing beyond what the conversation requires.
We don't sell your data
Your information is never sold or passed to third parties for marketing. It stays with us, full stop.
You can ask us to delete it
You have the right to access, correct, or ask us to delete your personal data at any time. Just ask.
One point of contact
All data queries go to the same place as everything else — us, directly. There's no compliance department to navigate.
Miles Maltipoo is a licensed dog breeder operating from the Cotswolds, England. We are a small family business, not a company with a legal entity separate from the individuals running it.
For the purposes of UK data protection law, we are the data controller for the personal information we collect through this website and through our enquiry process. That means we determine how and why your data is used, and we are responsible for keeping it safe.
This policy applies to personal data we collect from visitors to our website, people who make enquiries, and buyers who purchase a puppy from us. It does not apply to information about third parties.
We keep this minimal. The information we may hold about you falls into the following categories.
| Category | Examples | When collected |
|---|---|---|
| Identity | First name, last name | Enquiry, reservation, purchase |
| Contact | Email address, phone number | Enquiry, contact form, reservation |
| Transaction | Deposit payment record, purchase amount, date | At time of reservation or purchase |
| Enquiry content | Messages, questions, household information you share | When you contact us directly |
| Technical | IP address, browser type, pages visited, time on site | Automatically when you visit the website |
We do not collect sensitive personal data such as health information, ethnicity, religion, or political views. We do not collect financial data beyond basic transaction records — we do not store card numbers.
We collect information through three main routes.
We use your personal data only for the purposes set out below. We do not use it for anything else without telling you first.
| Purpose | Description |
|---|---|
| To respond to enquiries | To answer your questions and have a conversation about whether one of our puppies is right for you |
| To process reservations | To manage deposits, confirm collection dates, and provide updates on your puppy |
| To fulfil the sale | To provide the paperwork, health records, and microchip transfer documentation required at collection |
| Post-sale support | To follow up after collection, answer questions, and maintain the breeder-buyer relationship |
| Legal compliance | To meet our obligations as a licensed breeder, including record keeping requirements under the Animal Welfare Regulations |
| Website improvement | To understand how people use the site so we can make it more useful |
We do not add your details to any email marketing list, newsletter, or promotional campaign unless you explicitly ask us to. Buying a puppy from us does not opt you into any mailing list.
Under UK GDPR, we need a lawful basis to process your personal data. We rely on the following bases depending on the activity.
We do not rely on consent as the default basis for processing. Where we do use consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting the legality of anything we did before you withdrew it.
We do not sell your data. We do not share it for marketing purposes. The only parties who may have access to your personal data are listed below, and only to the extent necessary.
We do not transfer your personal data outside the UK or the European Economic Area. All data is processed and stored within the UK.
We keep your data for as long as is necessary for the purposes it was collected, or as required by law. Our general retention periods are as follows.
| Data type | Retention period | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Enquiry records | 2 years from last contact | In case of follow-up or future litter interest |
| Purchase records | 7 years from sale date | Legal obligation — financial and licence records |
| Puppy health & microchip records | Lifetime of the dog | Regulatory and welfare obligations |
| Website analytics data | Up to 26 months | Standard analytics retention period |
| Email correspondence | 3 years from last contact | Legitimate interest in maintaining records of the breeder-buyer relationship |
Once data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it. If you ask us to delete your data and there is no legal obligation preventing us from doing so, we will comply promptly.
Our website uses cookies — small text files stored on your device — to make the site work and to understand how it's being used. We use the following types.
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect some parts of the website. For more information about managing cookies, visit aboutcookies.org.
We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels for retargeted advertising.
Under UK GDPR you have the following rights in relation to your personal data. These are not unlimited — each right has specific conditions — but we will always try to respond helpfully and promptly.
Right to access
You can ask us what personal data we hold about you. We'll respond within one month with a copy of that data.
Right to correction
If something we hold about you is inaccurate or incomplete, you can ask us to correct it.
Right to erasure
You can ask us to delete your data. We'll comply unless there's a legal obligation that requires us to keep it.
Right to restriction
You can ask us to limit how we use your data while a query or complaint is being resolved.
Right to portability
Where data was provided by you and processed by consent or contract, you can ask for it in a structured, machine-readable format.
Right to object
You can object to processing based on legitimate interests. We'll stop unless we can demonstrate a compelling reason to continue.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@milesmaltipoo.co.uk. We will acknowledge your request within 72 hours and respond in full within one calendar month. We do not charge for handling these requests.
We take reasonable steps to protect the personal data we hold. These include the following measures.
In the unlikely event of a personal data breach that poses a risk to your rights and freedoms, we are required by law to notify the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) within 72 hours. If the breach is likely to result in a high risk to you personally, we will also notify you directly without undue delay.
Our website and services are directed at adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 18.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal data without your consent, please contact us at hello@milesmaltipoo.co.uk and we will delete that information promptly.
We review this privacy policy periodically and update it when our practices change or when the law requires it. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
If we make significant changes to how we handle your personal data, we will make that clear on our website or contact you directly if appropriate.
If you have any questions about this privacy policy or how we handle your data, please contact us:
If you feel that we have not handled your data correctly, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK supervisory authority for data protection issues. We would appreciate the chance to deal with your concerns before you approach the ICO, so please contact us in the first instance.
