Privacy Policy

We only collect what we need, we don't share it with anyone who doesn't need it, and we won't use it to bother you. This page explains exactly what that means in practice.

Last updated: June 2026 UK GDPR compliant Governed by English Law
The short version

We collect only what's needed

Name, contact details, and the information relevant to your puppy enquiry. Nothing beyond what the conversation requires.

We don't sell your data

Your information is never sold or passed to third parties for marketing. It stays with us, full stop.

You can ask us to delete it

You have the right to access, correct, or ask us to delete your personal data at any time. Just ask.

One point of contact

All data queries go to the same place as everything else — us, directly. There's no compliance department to navigate.

Section 01

Who we are

Miles Maltipoo is a licensed dog breeder operating from the Cotswolds, England. We are a small family business, not a company with a legal entity separate from the individuals running it.

For the purposes of UK data protection law, we are the data controller for the personal information we collect through this website and through our enquiry process. That means we determine how and why your data is used, and we are responsible for keeping it safe.

This policy applies to personal data we collect from visitors to our website, people who make enquiries, and buyers who purchase a puppy from us. It does not apply to information about third parties.

Section 02

What data we collect

We keep this minimal. The information we may hold about you falls into the following categories.

Category Examples When collected
Identity First name, last name Enquiry, reservation, purchase
Contact Email address, phone number Enquiry, contact form, reservation
Transaction Deposit payment record, purchase amount, date At time of reservation or purchase
Enquiry content Messages, questions, household information you share When you contact us directly
Technical IP address, browser type, pages visited, time on site Automatically when you visit the website
What we don't collect

We do not collect sensitive personal data such as health information, ethnicity, religion, or political views. We do not collect financial data beyond basic transaction records — we do not store card numbers.

Section 03

How we collect it

We collect information through three main routes.

  • Directly from you — when you fill in a contact form, send us an email, call us, or complete a reservation. Everything you type or say is collected only to the extent needed to respond.
  • Automatically through the website — standard technical data collected by our website platform when you browse. This includes your IP address, the pages you visit, and how you navigate the site. This is collected by our website host (Hostinger) and analytics tools.
  • Through third parties — if you find us via Google, Facebook, or another platform, those platforms may pass basic referral data to us in line with their own privacy policies. We do not control what those platforms collect.
Section 04

Why we use it

We use your personal data only for the purposes set out below. We do not use it for anything else without telling you first.

Purpose Description
To respond to enquiries To answer your questions and have a conversation about whether one of our puppies is right for you
To process reservations To manage deposits, confirm collection dates, and provide updates on your puppy
To fulfil the sale To provide the paperwork, health records, and microchip transfer documentation required at collection
Post-sale support To follow up after collection, answer questions, and maintain the breeder-buyer relationship
Legal compliance To meet our obligations as a licensed breeder, including record keeping requirements under the Animal Welfare Regulations
Website improvement To understand how people use the site so we can make it more useful
We don't do marketing lists

We do not add your details to any email marketing list, newsletter, or promotional campaign unless you explicitly ask us to. Buying a puppy from us does not opt you into any mailing list.

Section 05

Legal basis

Under UK GDPR, we need a lawful basis to process your personal data. We rely on the following bases depending on the activity.

  • Contract performance — when processing is necessary to fulfil a reservation or purchase agreement, or to take steps at your request before entering into one
  • Legitimate interests — for post-sale support and website analytics, where our interest in running a responsible business is balanced against your right to privacy
  • Legal obligation — where we are required to keep records by law, including under our breeder licence conditions
  • Consent — where we have specifically asked for and received your permission, for example if you ask to be kept informed about future litters

We do not rely on consent as the default basis for processing. Where we do use consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting the legality of anything we did before you withdrew it.

Section 06

Who we share it with

We do not sell your data. We do not share it for marketing purposes. The only parties who may have access to your personal data are listed below, and only to the extent necessary.

  • Our website host (Hostinger) — your data passes through Hostinger's servers when you submit a form. Their privacy policy applies to that transfer.
  • Our registered vet — relevant puppy health information (not your personal data) is shared with our vet to complete health certificates. The vet's practice has its own data obligations.
  • Microchip databases — your name and contact details are submitted to the relevant UK microchip registry (e.g. Petlog or PETtrac) as required by law when a puppy is registered in your name.
  • Payment processors — if payment is made by bank transfer, your bank details are not shared with us beyond what appears on the transaction record. We do not use third-party card processors.
  • Regulatory authorities — we may be required to share certain records with our local authority as part of our breeder licence inspections.
No international transfers

We do not transfer your personal data outside the UK or the European Economic Area. All data is processed and stored within the UK.

Section 07

How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as is necessary for the purposes it was collected, or as required by law. Our general retention periods are as follows.

Data type Retention period Reason
Enquiry records 2 years from last contact In case of follow-up or future litter interest
Purchase records 7 years from sale date Legal obligation — financial and licence records
Puppy health & microchip records Lifetime of the dog Regulatory and welfare obligations
Website analytics data Up to 26 months Standard analytics retention period
Email correspondence 3 years from last contact Legitimate interest in maintaining records of the breeder-buyer relationship

Once data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it. If you ask us to delete your data and there is no legal obligation preventing us from doing so, we will comply promptly.

Section 08

Cookies

Our website uses cookies — small text files stored on your device — to make the site work and to understand how it's being used. We use the following types.

  • Strictly necessary cookies — required for the website to function. These cannot be turned off. They don't collect any personal information.
  • Analytics cookies — help us understand which pages are visited, how long people stay, and how they navigate. We use this data in aggregate, not to identify individuals. You can opt out of analytics via your browser settings or a cookie preference tool if one is present on the site.
  • Functional cookies — remember preferences such as your consent choices. These don't track you across other websites.
Managing cookies

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect some parts of the website. For more information about managing cookies, visit aboutcookies.org.

We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels for retargeted advertising.

Section 09

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the following rights in relation to your personal data. These are not unlimited — each right has specific conditions — but we will always try to respond helpfully and promptly.

Right to access

You can ask us what personal data we hold about you. We'll respond within one month with a copy of that data.

Right to correction

If something we hold about you is inaccurate or incomplete, you can ask us to correct it.

Right to erasure

You can ask us to delete your data. We'll comply unless there's a legal obligation that requires us to keep it.

Right to restriction

You can ask us to limit how we use your data while a query or complaint is being resolved.

Right to portability

Where data was provided by you and processed by consent or contract, you can ask for it in a structured, machine-readable format.

Right to object

You can object to processing based on legitimate interests. We'll stop unless we can demonstrate a compelling reason to continue.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@milesmaltipoo.co.uk. We will acknowledge your request within 72 hours and respond in full within one calendar month. We do not charge for handling these requests.

Section 10

Data security

We take reasonable steps to protect the personal data we hold. These include the following measures.

  • All data transmitted via our website uses HTTPS encryption
  • Email correspondence is stored in password-protected accounts with two-factor authentication enabled
  • Physical documents containing personal data (such as signed purchase agreements) are stored securely and disposed of in line with our retention schedule
  • We limit access to personal data to only those people who need it to carry out their role
Data breach notification

In the unlikely event of a personal data breach that poses a risk to your rights and freedoms, we are required by law to notify the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) within 72 hours. If the breach is likely to result in a high risk to you personally, we will also notify you directly without undue delay.

Section 11

Children

Our website and services are directed at adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 18.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal data without your consent, please contact us at hello@milesmaltipoo.co.uk and we will delete that information promptly.

Section 12

Changes to this policy

We review this privacy policy periodically and update it when our practices change or when the law requires it. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.

If we make significant changes to how we handle your personal data, we will make that clear on our website or contact you directly if appropriate.

Section 13

Contact & Complaints

If you have any questions about this privacy policy or how we handle your data, please contact us:

If you feel that we have not handled your data correctly, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK supervisory authority for data protection issues. We would appreciate the chance to deal with your concerns before you approach the ICO, so please contact us in the first instance.
